Adam Copeland, a cherished member of the AEW roster since WrestleDream last year, has undeniably left a lasting impression since his debut. However, he recently suffered a serious injury last month. Interestingly, Copeland believes that this injury has added to his grizzled veteran gimmick.

Adam Copeland revealed that he suffered fractured tibia following a dangerous spot at AEW Double or Nothing and will be out of action for a long time. As a result, he had to relinquish the TNT Championship.

While speaking to Busted Open Radio, Adam Copeland asked about the mindset for his character moving forward and whether he’ll be starting a new chapter upon his return. Copeland expressed that at this stage in his career, each injury contributes to his “grizzled vet” persona.

“Part of me goes, ‘Well, you recreate yourself.’ But each injury kind of adds itself to the character that I was already portraying, which — to be honest — is not that far removed from me at this point,” Copeland said.

I don’t know how much I change, honestly. I think it’s just one more instance of, like, grizzled vet fighting back from another one.”

Adam Copeland has confirmed that he underwent surgery for his injury. As he embarks on his road to recovery, only time will tell when he’ll be able to make his return to AEW. Until then, his absence will definitely be felt on AEW television.
