Adam Copeland, a beloved member of the AEW roster since his debut at WrestleDream last year, has certainly made a significant impact during his time with the promotion. However, he recently faced a setback with a serious injury last month. Copeland has now revealed that complications arose during his leg surgery.
Adam Copeland revealed that he suffered fractured tibia following a dangerous spot at AEW Double or Nothing and will be out of action for a long time. As a result, he had to relinquish the TNT Championship.
During his appearance on Busted Open Radio, Adam Copeland provided an update on his surgery and recovery process. He mentioned that while the surgery was ultimately successful, there were some complications due to the location of the break.
“I had the surgery on Monday, and it was a success. I guess it got a little complicated just because of where the break is. It’s kind of right above the ankle joint, which is called a peon fracture, apparently. So the cartilage between your ankle and your Tibia and Fibula got squished, and then the break. I guess there were shards of it too, so they had to try and compact it all with the plate and the screws. I haven’t looked at an X-ray, I’m not going to. Just because that stuff, I don’t find that helpful [laughs]. But with this injury, I’ve realized DoorDash is pretty cool. I started using DoorDash, I didn’t know how to use it. I had to get Beth to show me how. I’ve been doing a lot of reading, a lot of Dr. Mario.”
Adam Copeland also viewed his leg injury as an addition to his grizzled veteran gimmick. As he embarks on his road to recovery, only time will tell when he’ll be able to make his return to AEW. Until then, his absence will definitely be felt on AEW television.
