TNA has undergone substantial changes since returning to its roots with the Hard to Kill pay-per-view in January. With expansion in mind, it appears this year’s Bound for Glory event might just take place outside the US.
During his most recent Q&A session on PWInsiderElite.com, Mike Johnson addressed speculation about the potential location for TNA’s Bound For Glory event. He shared that there have been rumors of it being held internationally—specifically not in the United States, Canada, or Mexico—suggesting a possible European destination.
“I heard some rumors that there was talk of it being an international show – not in the United States, not in Canada, not in Mexico – so it’s pretty obvious they’re talking about going to Europe. I don’t know whether that’s the plan or not anymore, it’s something that was bounced around in recent weeks.”
Johnson further explained that the Manhattan Center and the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City are unlikely locations, and Las Vegas, a frequent TNA venue, might be overused at this point.
“Maybe it’ll end up in Toronto, I don’t know. I guess it’s a lot easier to stage things in Canada. I haven’t heard anything other than it will likely be an international location, but nothing was locked in stone,” Johnson added.
The last time TNA held a pay-per-view outside of North America was in 2014 for Bound For Glory in Tokyo, Japan. Recently, TNA hosted their Rebellion event in Las Vegas, Nevada, and their annual Slammiversary pay-per-view is scheduled for July 20th in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Nonetheless, we’ll have to see whether Bound For Glory will end up taking place abroad.
