Ever since Adam Copeland injured his leg and had to vacate the TNT championship, it opened the window of opportunity for other AEW stars to step up and claim the prestigious prize at their upcoming show, Forbidden Door in a ladder match.

A series of qualifying matches were set to take place with Konosuke Takeshita becoming the first person to qualify for the match. The action continued on tonight’s June 5th edition of AEW Dynamite.

The match pitted the dominated Brian Cage against Mark Briscoe in a highly enthralling showdown. Also keeping a close eye on the match were Don Callis and Konosuke Takeshita himself and Don Callis from the stands and Jack Perry from the backstage area.

The action went back and forth, but in the end, a timely frog splash from the top rope did the job for Mark Briscoe who secured the win over Brian Cage and became the second person to qualify for the TNT Championship ladder match at Forbidden Door.
