Swerve Strickland’s rise in AEW has been incredible, showcasing his exceptional in-ring skills and undeniable charisma. As the current AEW World Champion, he has already defended his title quite a few times.

In case you didn’t know, Roderick Strong is set to challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite after he complained to Tony Khan about getting a title shot on Collision last week.

Former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas took to Twitter and shared his thoughts on the upcoming main event of AEW, where AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland will defend his title against Roderick Strong. Korderas questioned the logic behind this match-up. He pointed out that while it is undoubtedly a great match on paper, the reasoning behind it seems weak. According to Korderas, Roderick Strong’s qualification for a title shot appears to stem from his complaints to Tony Khan about not being included in a gauntlet match.

Korderas criticized this approach, suggesting that simply complaining to the owner shouldn’t be enough to earn a championship opportunity, especially after recently losing a title. He emphasized the need for more substantial reasons to justify such high-stakes matches, rather than just relying on the potential for an exciting bout.

The main event is AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland defending against Roderick Strong. My only question is why? Yes I understand it is a great matchup and Roderick Strong went to Tony Khan to complain, ”I should have been in this, I should have been in the gauntlet match.’ Okay so that’s your criteria for having a shot at the championship? Going and b****** at the owner that you didn’t get a shot and should’ve got a shot after you just lost your title? To me, that makes no sense. The point is we need reasons for this to happen, not just ‘Oh it’s gonna be a great match.’

We will have to wait and see how Roderick Strong will fare against Swerve Strickland on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Nevertheless, fans continue to hope Tony Khan will make logical booking decisions eventually.
