The removal of Ethan Page from the AEW roster page sparked speculation among fans regarding his status with the company. However, it was confirmed that Page had indeed departed from AEW and made his debut in NXT last week. Trick Williams has since addressed Ethan Page’s attack.
The May 28th edition of WWE NXT ended with the unexpected debut of former TNA and AEW star Ethan Page, who targeted Trick Williams. Fans were really excited by this surprise appearance and are eagerly anticipating what he will achieve in NXT.
Trick Williams addressed the situation on The Masked Man Show, expressing conflicting feelings about the events that unfolded. He touched on the hard work put into building NXT and the frustration with individuals trying to leapfrog their way to title opportunities.
The NXT Champion then revealed that he is somewhat aware of Ethan Page’s work and now plans on studying Ethan Page and going back to the lab, so that he is prepared for Ethan Page.
”You know, I feel kind of conflicted about the whole situation. A piece of me feels like, you know, we just talked about how hard we work for a long time here to build NXT where it is. You can see it’s showing, because we got people jumping from every which way, trying to jump their way to the top title and humbly, I say, it took me a long time to get my opportunity to get a shot at this title right here. So we got people skipping the line, trying to get straight to the top.
And let me say something about that, nobody just asks for a title shot these days. I get jumped every other week… I ain’t running from no challenge, you know what I mean? All you gotta do is, hey man, I want a title shot. Hey look… let’s make it happen. Why we jumping everybody every single week?
Up to this point, every challenger I’ve had, I really watched and studied them. I’ve seen them do their thing on multiple occasions. If we’re talking about Ilja Dragunov, we’re talking about Carmelo Hayes, we’re talking about Bron Breakker. As I look around now, all those guys are gone. It feel like the last episode of Fresh Prince (of Bel-Air). Ethan Page come out and… I’m familiar somewhat with his work. I know he’s efficient in the ring, but now I really gotta study, gotta get back in the lab. To be honest with you, I’m excited for the opportunity, to show the people what I’m about and with a brand-new opponent with Ethan Page and I hope he’s ready for what he asked for, because I’ma bring it.”
Ethan Page has also claimed he has not signed contract with NXT, but clearly, that is not the case, and it’s part of a storyline. Regardless, we’ll have to see how Trick Williams will fare against Page at NXT Battleground on June 9th, as it’s certain the match will be taking place.
