Chuck Taylor recently provided an update regarding his injury, which has kept him out of action for quite some time.

Chuck’s last match was on the April 27 episode of AEW Rampage, where he faced Trent Beretta in a Parking Lot Fight, ending in defeat. Following this bout, on the subsequent episode of AEW Dynamite, Orange Cassidy ominously declared that Chuck would never wrestle again.

Before the Parking Lot Fight, Chuck had been sidelined since October 2023 due to injury. Recounting the incident while speaking to Renee, he explained how it all went down.

“In October, I believe, I injured my ankle originally. My foot was down, it was in a match on Rampage, we were tagging with the Hardys. I took a dropkick in the ropes and as I was going out, I left my ankle out, and Angelo Parker fell on my ankle. It was honestly my fault.”

Chuck sought medical attention after the injury and was diagnosed with a bruised talus, along with ligament damage. Initially opting for rehab, Chuck’s condition didn’t improve, leading to the recommendation for surgery. Reflecting on his time off due to injury, Chuck mentioned this is the longest time he has gone without taking a bump.

“I’ve been wrestling for 23 years and the longest I had off was the beginning of COVID. The longest I had gone without taking a bump was the five weeks when COVID started, before we came back. It was the first time I had off. You never want it for an injury. It was interesting because I’m so used to, ‘Okay, time to go wrestle.’ To not do that is weird.”

Regarding the status of his career, Chuck remained cautiously optimistic. Chuck stated, “I can get surgery, and once I heal from that, I can hopefully reassess.”

When asked about the potential for a return, Chuck acknowledged the uncertainty, saying, “Maybe it is me hoping. We’ve seen a lot of guys and gals come back from a ‘career ending injury.'”

Despite the challenges, Chuck mentioned that the pain isn’t severe, and he can walk without major issues, albeit with the assistance of a brace. However, he conceded that certain maneuvers, like backflips, might be off the table in the future.

As updates on Chuck’s condition become available, Ringside News will continue to keep fans informed.
