WWE’s former poster boy John Cena, who is set to host Shark Week coming soon, has long been recognized for all his talents, one of them notably being his exceptional mic skills, often used to outmaneuver other top WWE stars.

This talent, which has turned the tide in many feuds, dates back to his days as the “Doctor of Thuganomics.” During a memorable segment on Friday Night SmackDown nearly two decades ago, where Cena faced off against his formidable rival, Kurt Angle, he famously declared himself “America’s Nightmare.”

“You’re the American Dream…I’m America’s Nightmare.”

This exchange marked one of many rap battles and matches between Cena and Angle. Although Angle got the better of Cena in this instance, the legacy of John Cena’s alter ego endured.

However, as it is known, the title of “The American Nightmare” is synonymous with none other than WWE’s current poster boy, Cody Rhodes. He adopted the moniker after leaving WWE in 2016 and joining AEW, paying homage to his father, WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes, “The American Dream.”

As far as his history with John Cena goes, the duo have a history of clashes. Moreover, The Face that Runs the Place played a significant role in Cody Rhodes finishing his story at WrestleMania 40 and claiming the Undisputed WWE Championship. With Cena’s career winding down soon, it would be interesting to see him and Rhodes compete in today’s landscape making it a dream showdown for the WWE audience.
