Brian Cage recently shed light on the details of his contract with AEW during an appearance on the Lightweights podcast.
In April 2023, it was initially reported Cage’s re-signing with AEW, outlining a five-year deal with a potential sixth-year option. Cage reaffirmed his commitment to AEW on the podcast, expressing contentment with his current situation.
“I don’t see myself going anywhere else. With how long I’ve been there and how long my contract is for and everything else, it makes sense to stay put and I’m happy with that,” Cage stated.
When questioned about the duration of his contract, Cage confirmed, “Yeah, yeah,” indicating an extension for about six years. Unlike previous negotiations where Cage handled matters independently, he disclosed that this time he sought the expertise of an agent.
“I do have an agent. The first time I’ve used an agent was with this contract. My first contract with AEW, my contract with WWE and Lucha (Underground), it’s always been me. I finally used an agent this last time.”
According to Cage, enlisting an agent proved beneficial. The agent assisted with various aspects of the negotiation process, including bonuses and contractual details.
“It was a little bit of everything, including bonuses. Like a DVD bonus menu. I basically talked to him, we went back and forth until I felt like, ‘that’s as far as I’m going to go,’ and then tag him in to add anything onto it. I felt like I got a little bit of everything with him,” Cage explained.
Currently, Cage is aligned with Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun as part of Cage of Agony. With his future firmly secured within AEW, fans can anticipate further dynamic performances from the talented wrestler.
