Mercedes Mone, since her debut in AEW, hadn’t had a title shot until AEW Double or Nothing when she challenged Willow Nightingale for the TBS Championship. Making the most of her chance, Mone clinched victory and claimed the championship. In light of her massive win, she claimed that she stole the show at AEW Double or Nothing.
At AEW Double or Nothing, Mercedes Mone made her long-awaited in-ring debut, emerging victorious by defeating Willow Nightingale to capture the TBS Championship. This was an expected outcome for many, and the bout was hailed as one of the best women’s matches in AEW history.
While speaking to TMZ Sports, Mercedes Mone talked about her in-ring return after a year and stated that she fought hard to get back to the squared circle. Mone then stated that she and Willow Nightingale stole the show at the event.
“I mean- Willow’s the one that I suffered my injury with one year ago, took me out for a whole year. The doctor said, they’re not sure if I was gonna be back in wrestling, but I told them, no, this is my life, this is my dream. Nobody can tell me, no, I can’t do it. So I fought so hard to get back and Willow had something that I wanted and I told her that money changes everything. This past Sunday at Double or Nothing, we went out there and we stole the show. We tore it out of the park. She is legit one of the best that I’ve ever been in the ring with. I definitely can’t wait to tie it in the ring with her again.”
Mercedes Mone will also be feuding with Stephanie Vaquer as we head towards the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event on June 30th, so we will have to wait and see who will reign supreme in the match.
