Former WWE star Elias, now known as Elijah in the independent wrestling circuit, recently reflected on his surprising character transformation from Elias to Ezekiel during his final stint in WWE. Following his departure from the company in September 2023, Elijah has been actively participating in the independent wrestling scene.
During his tenure with WWE, Elijah underwent a notable character change when he transitioned to his alter ego, Ezekiel, in 2022. In a conversation with Metro, Elijah shared his initial reaction to the unexpected shift in character.
“From a comfort standpoint, it was definitely interesting,” Elijah admitted. “But it’s another one of those things where I’m like, ‘Okay, boss, I’ll make the best of it.'”
Despite the initial adjustment, Elijah expressed a desire for WWE to delve deeper into the potential of his family storyline, suggesting opportunities to explore additional characters within his fictional family dynamic.
“I still have a character in mind for my older brother Elrod,” Elijah revealed. “I think we’ve opened up a whole box of characters and creative outlets we could possibly go in.”
Looking ahead, Elijah is slated to face TNA Wrestling’s Joe Hendry for North Wrestling in the U.K. on Saturday, July 13, showcasing his talents on the independent circuit. As he continues to carve his path post-WWE, Elijah remains poised to explore new creative avenues and leave an indelible mark in the world of professional wrestling.
