It’s Friday night, and you know what that means! The post-WWE King and Queen of the Ring episode of SmackDown will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage for the May 31, 2024 episode.

WWE SmackDown Results (5/31/2024):

The show opens up with a shot of the Bloodline walking backstage. We also see the Street Profits walking backstage. Corey Graves and Wade Barrett then welcomes us to the show and we then get a video recapping last Saturday’s King and Queen of the Ring PLE.

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis is in the middle of the ring and welcomes fans to SmackDown, then says as a General Manager there is no better feeling when one of your draft picks accomplishes something big. Aldis then introduces the 2024 WWE Queen of the Ring Nia Jax and Jax makes her way down to the ring. Jax then puts the Queen of the Ring crown on her head and Aldis leaves the ring to head to the back. Jax then says it’s time to get facts straight and it’s a fact that she’s the Queen of the Ring. Jax then calls WWE Women’s Champion Bayley out to the ring.

Bayley’s music then hits and she makes her way out. Piper Niven and Chelsea Green then attack Bayley on the ramp and Niven sends Bayley crashing into the barricade. Niven then sends Bayley in the ring, then hits her with a headbutt and a crossbody. Green then grabs a mic and tells Jax she won’t have to worry about Bayley at WWE SummerSlam because Piper Niven will be the new Women’s Champion. Jax then tells Niven and Green that she doesn’t care who the champion is because she’ll annihilate them.

We then head to the back, where we see AJ Styles waiting in Nick Aldis’ office as Aldis walks in. Styles says he would like to address his future tonight and Aldis says he can find the time. Aldis then asks Styles if there’s something he wants to tell him and Styles says it’s going to be hard enough doing what he’s going to once. Styles then says he’d rather do it in the ring.

We then get the entrances of the first match of the night, which is a Singles Match.

Singles Match: WWE Tag Team Champion A-Town Down Under’s Austin Theory vs. #DIY’s Tommaso Ciampa

The match starts off with Ciampa hitting a back elbow on Theory and delivering some right hands on him in the corner, but Waller jumps up on the apron. Ciampa then nails. Waller with a right hand, but Theory takes advantage and hits Ciampa with a shoulder breaker. Theory then nails Ciampa with three back elbows in the corner, then sends him into the corner. Theory then charges at Ciampa, but Ciampa gets his boot up and looks to nail Theory. Theory then moves out of the way and hits a hanging neckbreaker on Ciampa off the apron.

Theory then hits a back elbow on Ciampa. Theory then looks to hit a rolling Stunner, but Ciampa nails him with a dropkick and delivers four right hands on him. Ciampa then hits a leaping clothesline and a reverse DDT on Theory, then sets up for a Pedigree. Theory then blocks ii and Ciampa looks to pin him. Theory then prevents Ciampa from pinning him, then hits him with a variation of a flatliner. Theory then gets Ciampa on his shoulders and looks to hit A-Town Down, but Ciampa grabs Theory’s leg to prevent him from hitting it. Ciampa and Theory then hits boots on each other and Ciampa hits a jumping knee on Theory. Theory then slides out of the ring and Waller checks on him. Waller then gets in Wade Barrett’s face at the announce desk as Theory becomes distracted by the commotion. Ciampa then sends Theory crashing into Waller on the apron and rolls up Theory for the win.

We then head to the back, where SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis is talking with Blair Davenport. Naomi walks in to see if Aldis can make a tag team match official between her and Bayley vs. Piper Niven and Chelsea Green. A verbal confrontation then ensues between Davenport and Naomi before Aldis makes the tag team match official. LA Knight then walks into Aldis’ office and asks Aldis if Styles was going to retire. Aldis then says he didn’t know and Knight says he was looking for WWE United States Champion Logan Paul and he couldn’t find him. Knight and Aldis then sat down to talk.

We then get video highlights of Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes vs. WWE United States Champion “The Maverick” Logan Paul in Saudi Arabia from last weekend.

LA Knight was then shown walking out of Aldis’ office. Kayla Braxton then approaches Knight and asks him what he talked about with Aldis. Knight says there wasn’t much to say as Logan Paul wasn’t there this week. Knight then speaks to the camera and says he wanted the United States Title. Carmelo Hayes then shows up and Hayes mistakenly calls LA Knight by a different name and Knight corrects Hayes. Hayes then talks some trash and leaves to end the segment.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.

Singles Match: Andrade vs. Apollo Crews

The match starts off with Crews hitting a back elbow on Andrade, but Andrade responds with a dropkick and follows it up with a back suplex. Andrade then stomps on Crews and climbs to the top. Legado Del Fantasma’s Angel then appears at ringside and Crews takes advantage. Crews flies off the apron and hits a moonsault on Andrade. Andrade then hits a crossbody on Crews off the top rope. Crews then nails Andrade with a flying right hand and follows it up with a meteora in the corner, then goes for a pin. Andrade then kicks out before Crews hits him with a German suplex. Crews then hits an enzuigiri on Andrade as he sits on the top rope. Crews then sends him Andrade into the mat face first using a Gorilla Press and hits Andrade with a standing moonsault. Angel then jump up on the apron, but Crews knocks him down. Andrade then takes advantage and hits Crews with a back elbow, then follows it up with The Message for the win.

After the match, the rest of Legado Del Fantasma appear on the ramp as they look to invite Andrade into the group. Andrade then brushes past them and heads to the back. Angel then tells Santos Escobar to let him go talk to Andrade.

Solo Sikoa was then shown talking to the rest of the Bloodline backstage and Paul Heyman walks in to tell Sikoa he’s been doing a lot of thinking about how he could better serve Sikoa. Heyman then talks about how Roman Reigns preserved the family through violence. Heyman then says he sees Sikoa recruiting a lot of violent men into the Bloodline, but he doesn’t see strategy at all. Heyman then says the strategy has to be that when Roman comes back, they have Cody Rhodes in check. Sikoa then says we have Cody in check and he doesn’t even know it. Heyman then asks Sikoa who we is and Kevin Owens’s music hits inside the arena. Sikoa then tells Heyman he had to go out there and fix it now.

We then see Angel tell Andrade in the men’s locker room that he embarrassed him and Apollo Crews suddenly blindsides Angel for costing him his match against Andrade.

Kevin Owens is already in the ring and he starts off by saying he made his return to SmackDown last week and he went all the way to Saudi Arabia to make sure he had Randy Orton’s back. Owens then says Orton has had his back for years and while Orton didn’t become the new King of the Ring, everyone saw his shoulder clearly off the mat. Owens then says Orton may not be in Albany, but The Bloodline is.

Paul Heyman then interrupts Owens and introduces himself, then says he’s out there at ringside to talk to Owens man to man, professional to professional and father to father. Heyman says there is a mutual interest he hopes he can serve and Owens tells Heyman to get in the ring and get to the point. Heyman then says there’s not a person in the MVP Arena who wants Roman Reigns there more than him. Heyman then says Owens keeps calling out Solo Sikoa’s name and Reigns has great respect for Owens. Heyman then says anything Reigns put Owens through was out of respect, but Sikoa has no respect. Heyman then says he and Reigns did background checks to keep people like Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa out of The Bloodline and they are looking for any excuse to take Owens out. Heyman then says that’s bad for WWE, and he likes Owens in the company as do fans. Heyman then tells Owens if he keeps calling out Sikoa’s name, The Bloodline will do something bad about it. Heyman then begs Owens to back off The Bloodline.

Owens then asks Heyman if he’s really acting like he’s trying to help him, then asks Heyman why he would trust anything he’s said after everything they’ve been through over the past few years. Owens then says he’s not falling for Heyman’s act and everything happening in The Bloodline is his doing. Owens then says he’s hopped from Brock Lesnar to Reigns and now Sikoa with Reigns losing the Undisputed WWE Championship. Owens then says he rattles off everything The Bloodline has put him through and he is still standing in the ring. Owens then says that was Roman Reigns and The Usos, which are three guys he respects. Owens then says he has no respect for Sikoa, Tama and Loa and they aren’t The Bloodline and he’ll do anything to keep them out of his world. Owens then declines Heyman’s help. Heyman then asks Owens if he thought that he was trying to save him rather than help him, then says Owens has redeemed himself many times. Heyman then says the same cannot be said for him, then asks Owens what he’s trying to do for him. Heyman then starts freaking out over no one listening to him, then accidentally hits Owens on the chest with his mic. Heyman then realizes his mistake and Owens gets in his face. Before anything can happen, Sikoa, Tama and Loa make their way down to the ring. The Street Profits then join Owens in the ring to even the odds and the six men begin brawling with one another. Owens and Sikoa then brawl through the crowd as The Profits brawl with Tama and Loa in the ring. The Profits then send Tama and Loa to the outside and Angelo Dawkins flies over the top rope to land on the Bloodline on the outside.

The next match of the night is now underway, which is a Tag Team Match.

Tag Team Match: The Bloodline (“MFT” Tama Tonga And Tonga Loa) vs. The Pride’s The Street Profits (MonteZ Ford and Angelo Dawkins)

The match starts off with Montez Ford hitting Tama Tonga with shoulders on his midsection. Dawkins then tags in and wears Tama down, then tags Ford back in. Ford and Dawkins then hit a double back suplex on Tama and Ford sends Tama in the corner. Ford then hits a knee on Loa off the apron, but Tama knocks him off the apron. Loa then sends Ford crashing into the barricade, then delivers some right hands on him. Loa then tags in and sends Ford crashing into the corner. Loa then hits a powerslam on Ford and tags in Tama. Loa then hits a suplex on Ford and Tama delivers a few right hands on Ford in the corner. Dawkins then tags in and blasts Tama, then nails him with a flying back elbow and a spinning splash in the corner. Dawkins then follows it up with an enzuigiri. Loa then makes the blind tag in and nails Dawkins with a clothesline. Loa then hits a back suplex on Dawkins and sends Dawkins out of the ring. Loa then continues beating Dawkins down on the outside and Tama nails him with a flying clothesline off the ring steps.

Tama then tags in and delivers some right hands on Dawkins. Tama then delivers some elbows on Dawkins, but Dawkins responds with a suplex. Ford and Loa then tag in and Ford delivers some right hands on Loa’s spine. Ford then nails Loa with a right hand and a kick to his midsection, then blasts him and an interfering Tama. Ford then hits a splash in the corner and Dawkins tags in. Dawkins then gets Loa in an Electric Chair position and Ford flies off the top to land on him. Dawkins then goes for a pin, but Tama breaks the fall. Ford then sends Tama onto the apron before Tama makes the blind tag. Dawkins then hits him with a spine buster and Ford tags in. Ford then hits the From The Heavens on Loa, but Tama hits a flatliner on Ford for the win.

We then head to the back, where we see WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Jade Cargill and “The EST Of WWE” Bianca Belair get into a verbal exchange with Indi Hartwell over what happened to Candice LeRae’s knee in their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match on the Countdown To King and Queen of the Ring Pre-Show.

Kayla Braxton was then shown interviewing Michin and asks Michin about AJ Styles potentially retiring. Michin then begins to talk, but Nia Jax interrupts Michin and wonders why people are talking about Styles. Jax then tells Michin not to step to her, but Michin gets right in Jax’s face. Jax then tells Michin that she will regret that and the segment ends.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Tag Team Match.

Tag Team Match: Naomi and WWE Women’s Champion Bayley vs. Piper Niven and Chelsea Green

The match starts off with Bayley and Green. Bayley nails Green. Niven then tags in and Bayley delivers some right hands on her. Niven then sends Bayley into the corner and follows it up with a splash and tags in Green. Green then hits a stomp on Bayley, but Bayley nails her with a back suplex and tags in Naomi. Bayley then hits a clothesline and Naomi follows it up with a split legged leg drop. Bayley then tags back in and she and Naomi send Green into the ropes. They then clothesline her out of the ring and Naomi flies using a tope suicida to land on her. Naomi then delivers some right hands on Green on the outside and Bayley flies off the apron to land on Niven. Green then tags in and double teams Bayley with Niven. Green then nails Naomi on the apron and Naomi slaps her. Green then sends Bayley crashing into the corner, then tags in Niven. Bayley then looks to make the hot tag to Naomi, but Niven prevents her from doing so and looks to hit an elbow drop. Bayley then rolls out of the way and tags in Naomi as Green tags in on her side.

Naomi then hits a kick on Green’s head, then sends her face bouncing off the ring apron and delivers a crossbody off the top rope. Naomi then hits a single leg dropkick on Niven on the apron, then follows it up with a dropkick on Green in the corner and hits a second kick. Naomi then hits a split legged moonsault out of the corner and goes for a pin, but Green kicks out. Naomi then flies over the top rope to land on Green and Niven on the outside and sends Green back in the ring. Naomi then climbs to the top, but Niven pushes her off. Green then takes advantage with a kick, then pins Naomi. Bayley then breaks the fall. Bayley and Niven then brawl on the outside, but Niven sends Bayley crashing into the ring post. Naomi then hits Rear View and goes for a pin, but Niven breaks the fall with a senton. Niven then puts Green on top of Naomi to pin her for the win.

The lineup for next week’s episode of WWE SmackDown is then announced.

AJ Styles was then shown walking backstage and LA Knight approaches Styles. Knight then says if the rumors are true then he respects him. Cody Rhodes then appears and shook Styles’ hand. Styles then whispers something into Cody’s ear. Styles then runs into Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson and Styles thanks them for going with him to the ring.

AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson then make their way down to the ring and Styles starts off by saying he has been thinking about having to go to the back of the line after losing to Cody Rhodes at Backlash. Styles then says he understands that, but he just couldn’t bust his body anymore and he couldn’t work his way back from the back of the line. Styles then stops himself mid-sentence and the crowd cheers him. Styles then says his son graduated high school this past week and he got to be there. Styles then talks about the graduation party and it was beautiful. Styles then says it hit him and he wonders how many of those types of parties he missed. Styles then says maybe he should stay at home and be a phenomenal father.

Styles then asks Gallows and Anderson to join him in the middle of the ring. Styles then says he couldn’t have done it without them. Styles then says they are better than friends as they are brothers. Styles then puts up the Too Sweet hand sign and Gallows and Anderson does the same. All three men then hug and Styles was teary. Styles then says before he goes, he wanted to call out Cody Rhodes. Cody’s music then hit and Cody makes his way down to the ring. Styles says he wanted to look Cody in the eyes and tell him he had one of his greatest matches ever with Cody in France. Styles then says if he was ever going to have one last match, that was it. Styles then says it was still the house that AJ Styles built and he called Cody out there to hand Cody the keys. Cody then talks about how the two exchanged text messages after Backlash and Cody raises Styles’ hand. Styles then clotheslines Cody and attacks him outside the ring. Styles then hits Cody with a Styles Clash off the ring steps onto the floor outside the ring as Gallows and Anderson hold off officials trying to stop Styles and Styles stands tall as the show comes to a close.
