Swerve Strickland’s rise in AEW has been remarkable, showcasing his exceptional in-ring skills and undeniable charisma. As the current AEW World Champion, he is set for a huge match against Will Ospreay next month and it appears many in AEW had different expectations for the match.

During the May 29th edition of AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay won the Casino Gauntlet match and earned the right to challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at Forbidden Door on June 30th.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported that many people backstage in AEW expected Will Ospreay vs Swerve Strickland to have taken place in All In in London instead of Forbidden Door as the main event.

”People backstage in AEW expected Will Ospreay vs Swerve Strickland as the main event of Wembley at All In.”

We will have to wait and see whether The Aerial Assassin will end up defeating Swerve Strickland at Forbidden Door, as it is also likely he might just lose the bout to pave way for Adam Page to face Strickland at All In instead.
