Under Tony Khan’s stewardship, AEW has forged a substantial partnership with Warner Bros Discovery for programming. Khan has played an active role in ensuring that AEW’s content aligns with the standards set by Warner Bros Discovery. This collaboration has sparked speculation regarding the possibility of a media rights deal between the two entities, and now the estimated value of the TV deal has been disclosed.
Warner Bros Discovery has proudly served as the home of All Elite Wrestling, airing popular shows such as Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision. The exclusive partnership between AEW and Warner Bros Discovery has been so significant that it led to the discontinuation of AEW Dark on YouTube.
Reports indicate that Zaslav and TNT Sports’ Luis Silberwasser are keen to retain AEW on TNT and TBS. However, Khan himself is “disappointed” by the current offer on the table for his content. AEW’s negotiation status with Warner Bros Discovery was then revealed as well.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported that the media rights deal between AEW and Warner Bros Discovery is estimated at more than $110 million annually.
Figures being talked about between WBD and AEW are said to be considerably more than the estimated $110 million per year, or slightly more. That in theory would take AEW into profitable range. Previously, AEW had a 4-year deal worth $175 million, just under $45 million per year.
As discussions progress, the timing of an agreement between AEW and Warner Bros Discovery remains uncertain. With that said, more than $110 million is certainly nothing to sneeze at, so we’ll have to see if AEW and Warner Bros Discovery will end up agreeing on this amount in the end.
