The Rock was a cornerstone for WWE for a lot of years and his return at the start of 2024 garnered major attention to the road to WrestleMania 40. While The Rock did return for a match at The Show of Shows, a SmackDown star believed that he should have competed for the WWE title.

The Final Boss returned to in-ring action after eight years at WrestleMania 40. He teamed up with his cousin Roman Reigns to defeat the duo of Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of the show.

Originally, The Rock was scheduled to face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship. However, the fan backlash led to Cody Rhodes retaining his WrestleMania spot and dethroning Reigns to win the championship on Night 2 of the show.

Recently, one-half of the WWE tag team champions, Grayson Waller, who had some back and forth with The Rock on social media last year, sided with The Final Boss in one conversation. In an interview with Daily Star, Waller stated that The Rock should have been the one to challenge for the World Championship at WrestleMania 40.

“I think the Rock is the greatest athlete of all time, he’s a fantastic movie star, I really think he should have wrestled for the Championship at WrestleMania. The Rock is the best, I love the Rock. He signs the paychecks!”

While The Rock missed out on his opportunity to challenge for the Undisputed WWE title this year at WrestleMania, he might get another shot at the current champion, Cody Rhodes after hinting at a future showdown with him on his last appearance on WWE television so far.

With The Rock amidst his Hollywood and other commitments, we will have to wait and see when The Final Boss comes back to WWE to continue his feud with The American Nightmare.
