The Wednesday Night Wars between AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT in 2021, when both promotions went head-to-head, brought back memories of the Monday Night Wars between WWE and the now-defunct WCW. During that period, AEW often won in terms of total viewers. With that said, Konnan believes things would be different if they faced each other in 2024.

In a recent episode of “Keepin’ It 100,” Konnan stated that he believes it would be a mistake for AEW to attempt such a battle again. Konnan didn’t mince words, advising AEW against going head-to-head with WWE, asserting that WWE currently has a superior product and that WWE would spank AEW.

“I think they should not run head-to-head against WWE, even if they’re on Netflix, they’re just gonna get spanked again. They [WWE] got a better product.”

Konnan’s assessment is influenced by the significant change in WWE’s online perception since 2022, particularly due to the shift in creative direction under Triple H.

AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT ran shows at the same time last year as this was the first time they went head-to-head in over a year. Unsurprisingly, NXT defeated AEW Dynamite in terms of ratings by a very large margin and it was truly a decisive win for the company. Therefore, it’s for the best if AEW Dynamite and NXT don’t go head-to-head again for Dynamite’s sake.
