Chris Jericho is a true veteran in the pro wrestling world and is also proud to be working in AEW and isn’t afraid to show it. He has competed for over three decades and has worked with the best of the best in the pro wrestling world, and doesn’t care what his haters have to say. With that said, Chris Jericho has addressed potentially retiring from pro wrestling.

Chris Jericho is more than 53 years old right now and his body has taken a lot of abuse over the years, and he might not be able to wrestle for a very long time anymore. Even then, Le Champion has managed to keep himself relevant no matter what. In fact, fans are still happy to see him compete and be a regular part of AEW programming.

While speaking to TMZ Sports, Chris Jericho was asked about eventually retiring from professional wrestling. Jericho compared himself to Mick Jagger and stated that he doesn’t really see himself as 53.

“I just went and saw the Stones last week and Mick is 80, and you look at this guy and he lives on a different planet,” Jericho said. “I think it’s because he’s been doing it since he was a teenager. I think that’s the same with me. You know, I don’t see myself as 53, I don’t feel 53, I don’t work like I’m 53. I just do what I do, and I think it’s more instinct at this point in time.”

Chris Jericho recounted a recent match where he endured a particularly brutal move and despite the physical toll, Jericho emphasized his unwavering commitment to performing at the highest level.

There was a spot in that match where they literally dumped me on the back of my head, suplexed me on the back of my head, and I’m like, ‘F***, man, that’s not good.’ But with years of experience, it’s just another bump. You absorb it, continue, and move forward.

If I didn’t think I could still compete at the highest of levels, it wouldn’t matter if I’m 53, 33, or 73—I wouldn’t do it.

Chris Jericho underscored his commitment to wrestling for the right reasons, driven by passion rather than mere presence. Le Champion then made it clear he wouldn’t put a timeline on his retirement when asked if he feels 60 is the right age.

I know what I’m capable of, and the last thing I would do is just be here for the sake of being here. That’s not my vibe. I would never put a timeline on anything. It’s like Kiss does a retirement tour, and then two years later, they’re still on tour, and then ten years later, they’re done with it or whatever it may be. I’ve never been that type of guy to put a number on it. It’s how I feel.”

Chris Jericho has contributed a lot to the pro wrestling world throughout his career, and there is no doubt he will one day be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. It remains to be seen when Jericho will hang up his wrestling boots for good.
