Since joining AEW full-time a few months ago, Will Ospreay has faced top-tier competitors such as Bryan Danielson, Katsuyori Shibata, Claudio Castagnoli, and Powerhouse Hobbs delivering spectacle bouts in his short tenure.
The Aerial Assassin continues to seek out the biggest stars in the company and now has his sights set on a veteran wrestling star. In a recent interview with Justin Walker, he expressed his desire to face Adam Copeland.
Ospreay believed that Copeland was a different star in AEW than his previous tenures in other promotions and adapted to the ideology and style of the company while being fascinated by the thought of a dream showdown with him.
“I’d really like to face Adam Copeland because he’s transformed into a different animal, especially compared to his time on the other channel. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him like this before. He’s trying new things and fitting in with our style. AEW has a unique style where the focus is solely on pro wrestling. It’s about climbing the ranks and being the best. Copeland has adapted to this, and I can’t help but wonder, ‘What does Ospreay vs. Copeland look like?’ I’m very fascinated by that matchup.”
Will Ospreay recently defeated Roderick Strong for the AEW International Championship at Double or Nothing marking his first championship reign as an AEW star since arriving in the company at the start of the year.
On the other hand, Copeland retained his TNT championship against Malakai Black in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage with the assistance of his former ally, Gangrel. With both Ospreay and Copeland holding AEW titles, the company could possibly book a ‘Title vs Title’ match between these two top competitors at any of their upcoming major shows.
