MJF’s absence from AEW television left wrestling fans speculating about his future as he was absent since AEW Worlds End last year. Fans got their answer as MJF made his shocking return at Double or Nothing this week, and Tony Khan has now addressed the same.

Before MJF’s arrival at Double or Nothing, Adam Cole made a surprise appearance following the match between Will Ospreay and Roderick Strong. He addressed his recovery and reintroduced his Devil Mask, a symbol of his past persona. Just as he was about to lead his iconic ‘Adam Cole Bay Bay’ chant, the arena plunged into darkness, and a video played, revealing a corridor leading to a room filled with artifacts of a long-absent AEW star.

To everyone’s surprise, MJF made his long-awaited return. MJF entered the ring, seemingly to reconcile with Cole, only to deliver a devastating low blow, sending Cole crashing to the canvas.

As Cole was helped from ringside, MJF seized the moment to assert himself. He denounced Cole’s Devil Mask, tossing it into the crowd, and reaffirmed his loyalty to AEW. MJF declared that Cole’s actions had reignited his passion, vowing to bet on himself and remain with the company to reclaim his position at the top of the roster.

While speaking during the post-AEW Double or Nothing media scrum, Tony Khan was asked about MJF’s return. When questioned about MJF’s future with AEW, Khan remained tight-lipped regarding contract specifics. Instead, he focused on MJF’s status as a former World Champion, highlighting his decision to take time off for recovery.

“Well, it’s great to get MJF here in AEW for the long haul,” Khan said. “It was something that coming out of Worlds End, obviously his future was uncertain. He was beat up physically, I think after some of the things that happened with Adam Cole mentally, and if made a lot of sense for MJF to take the time and I understood that.

And he’s a huge part of AEW. He’s a former World Champion, he’s someone that has been here with us from the very beginning, from the very first match in the history of AEW five years ago this weekend. And it’s great to have MJF back here in AEW. It was something really special for the fans for the five year anniversary on a great night.”

We have also reported how MJF’s return at AEW Double or Nothing was planned. Regardless, we will have to wait and see how MJF will be booked now that he is back on AEW television.
