AEW President Tony Khan oversees all aspects of the company, including the women’s division, which has faced criticism recently. Despite the scrutiny, Khan believes that introducing AEW Women’s Tag Team Titles would be a great idea as the women’s roster continues to expand.
Since its inception, the AEW Women’s Division has faced scrutiny, with fans expressing concerns about insufficient attention and focus. Some argue that Tony Khan, as AEW’s head, may not have prioritized the division as much as other aspects of the promotion.
However, in the years since its debut, AEW’s Women’s Division has experienced significant growth, with more talent signing with the company. This expansion has led fans to wonder if AEW will finally introduce tag titles for the women’s division.
While speaking during the post-AEW Double or Nothing media scrum, Tony Khan was asked about adding an AEW Women’s Tag or Trios division. Tony Khan made it clear he is open to the idea and he also wanted to introduce mixed tag team championships.
”Oh yeah absolutely. We’ve talked about that, we’ve talked about a lot of potential additions in terms of championships. We have some really strong rivalries emerging amongst the World Championship, TBS Championship and ROH. The men’s and women’s division, I think there are a lot of possibilities down the line.
I also think something different we can do here is I’ve had interest in would be mixed tag team championships. I think a lot of people would be interested in that too and that would set AEW apart, so I’d also be interested in mixed tag team championships.”
Saraya has already called for AEW to introduce Women’s Tag Team Championships in the past. We will have to wait and see when the company will end up introducing the tag team titles or trios titles one day.
