Ronda Rousey departed WWE following her SummerSlam match against Shayna Baszler last year and it became apparent she isn’t very popular with WWE fans. That’s also the case with MMA fans in general and Rousey feels she is vilified by the MMA media after her UFC exit.

Before her venture into WWE, Ronda Rousey had already carved out a legendary reputation in the UFC, picking up multiple titles and securing a prestigious spot in the UFC Hall of Fame.

Despite her accomplishments, Rousey has found herself under the critical lens of both fans and pundits throughout her journeys in MMA and WWE. In her WWE stint, some spectators believed she took audience reactions too personally.

In a recent interview with High Performance, Ronda Rousey addressed the waves of criticism from the MMA media and fan base. She expressed frustration over the negative portrayal by the media. She revealed that she hadn’t attended a UFC show after her departure, fearing potential boos from the audience.

“I don’t know, ask the MMA media that. They are the ones saying it. That I was a fraud and I was hype and I was exposed and I was never anything and just lucky and all of these things. And that I wasn’t gracious or a good loser, or you know every other thing… I feel like I’m really vilified by MMA media at this point and I’m not really welcomed back, which is why I haven’t gone to a UFC fight since, ’cause I’m pretty sure if I walked into the arena, I’d be booed. Yeah! That’s how it feels.”

When questioned about why the criticism affected her, Rousey confessed that she wished it didn’t, but it stung because she had poured her heart and soul into her UFC career.

“Why? I guess I wish it didn’t but I gave them everything I had and that wasn’t enough. But that’s why a lot of people don’t give everything that they have because they don’t want to face it if it wasn’t enough but I realised it was enough for me but not for people on the outside. But it was really wasn’t for them.”

Ronda Rousey also made it clear she doesn’t like UFC fans in general, and Dana White already confirmed Ronda Rousey will never return to the UFC. Regardless, Rousey is now focusing on other avenues besides MMA and professional wrestling and that’s all that matters to her.
