Malakai Black has been a fixture on the AEW roster for over two years, patiently awaiting his moment to shine as a singles star. However, recent revelations about his contract status have brought some unexpected twists.

Despite a temporary hiatus due to a minor calf tear and knee hyperextension, Black made a triumphant return in October of last year, establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with as part of The House of Black faction in AEW.

News circulated that Black’s contract was nearing its expiration, sparking speculation about his future in the promotion. However, during a recent edition of Fightful’s Q&A Podcast, Sean Ross Sapp disclosed that Black’s contract won’t be up in July as originally anticipated, as AEW has added some extra time to his deal.

“I asked about it this week and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be up in July before the options hit. I think there was a little bit of time added to it,” Sapp revealed.

In the midst of this contract extension, Black is gearing up to challenge Adam Copeland for the TNT Championship at AEW Double or Nothing on May 26th. The outcome of this match could significantly impact Black’s future with AEW.

As fans eagerly await the outcome of the championship bout, the question remains: will Malakai Black continue his journey with AEW for the long haul? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
