Adam Cole’s ankle injury during AEW Grand Slam, which resulted in fractures in three different places, has greatly disrupted his wrestling plans. Despite undergoing surgery last year, his in-ring return status remains uncertain. However, Tony Khan recently provided an update on his condition.
Kevin Owens was the first to break the news of Adam Cole’s surgery, which was later confirmed. Despite several months passing since the injury, Adam Cole, now known as The Devil and leader of The Undisputed Kingdom, has yet to return to the ring.
At AEW Dynasty, he stood up from his wheelchair and walked to celebrate Roderick Strong’s AEW International Championship win, but it was made clear he was still far from competing in the ring.
While speaking to Shakiel Mahjouri of CBS Sports, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about Adam Cole’s recovery progress. Khan confirmed that Cole is recovering well, but he is definitely not at a 100% yet.
“He’s not 100% but he’s getting better and better. I think that’s great news for AEW. We love Adam Cole and the fans love Adam Cole. He’s been a big part of the company now for almost three years of our five-year journey. It’s crazy to think Adam Cole, a year ago at this time, really felt like he was getting towards the top of the wrestling world. I would love to get Adam Cole back in the ring and he works so hard on his rehab. He really wants to get back in the ring. I think that would be a great thing for AEW.”
Fans eagerly await Adam Cole’s return to the squared circle, hoping to see him compete again after a prolonged absence from in-ring action, so we’ll have to see when that will be.
