Will Ospreay recently made headlines with his response to remarks made by WWE’s Triple H. Following Ospreay’s earlier statements, some believe his reaction was quite immature.
During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show as part of WWE World, Triple H talked about his strategy for hiring new talent. He pointed out that many wrestlers opt for other promotions because they provide a lighter schedule, highlighting the importance of work-life balance in their career decisions.
“When I see people coming out of trying to make it, and then they pick a job where, well, they work less, the schedule is lighter, then I’m like, ‘I’m glad I didn’t pick you.’ If you’re not in it for the grind, at that point early in your career, you have no business being here.”
As seen on a previous week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay would directly respond to Triple H’s comments and took quite a few personal shots at The Game for good measure.
“There’s this rumor going around, right? There’s this rumor that I’m afraid of the grind. I’ll be honest with you, I have no idea where this conversation has come from because I’m one of the only guys that are traveling every single week to the UK and America, 8, 10 hour flights every single week. I am delivering some of the best professional wrestling matches this world has ever seen, bruv. Normally, I wouldn’t rise to this type of bait but seeing as the guy that said it is only in the position he’s in because he was grinding on the boss’s daughter, you are in no position to tell me what the grind is all about my friend because you have no idea what I fight for. Let this be a painful jab back and a gentle reminder that you do not throw stones at an assassin with a machine gun.”
On the Straight Talk With The Boss podcast, wrestling veteran Magnum T.A. criticized AEW star Will Ospreay for taking a jab at Triple H. Despite acknowledging Ospreay’s “great potential ahead of him,” Magnum T.A. asserted that the AEW star would never have the same impact on the industry as the WWE CCO has had and continues to have.
“You really need to be careful staying in your lane when you get kind of out there on the edge of something you don’t really know about. And I see Ospreay’s got this great future, great potential ahead of him and whatnot, but he’s not in the same universe as Triple H. If he were to even remotely live up to a 100% of what he’s capable of being, he still is too old to have the impact that Triple H has had on this industry and continues to have on it today.”
The wrestling veteran also labeled Ospreay’s statement as “foolish” and “ridiculous,” criticizing him for making such comments in public forums. He asserted that the AEW star’s actions were “immature.”
“So, to try to insinuate that someone only is where they’re at because of who he happened to fall in love with and have a family with is just the most ridiculous, foolish statement that anybody could publicly make and it’s not the kind of things you do in public forums. So, it was kind of little immaturity thing I think that took place there. But Hunter is so on top of his game, so dialed in now.”
Will Ospreay noted that he would never get involved in such drama again. Even Eric Bischoff wished Will Ospreay didn’t take jab at Triple H. Regardless, Will Ospreay is clearly done with the whole situation now and that is all that truly matters at the moment.
