Gunther’s reign as the WWE Intercontinental Champion already cemented him as an all-time great in the company but he is determined to win the King of The Ring tournament as well. He’s now in the finals after beating Jey Uso on RAW this week and admitted it was a close call.

On the May 20th episode of WWE RAW, the semi-finals of the King of the Ring tournament took center stage. In a crucial match to determine who would advance to the finals, Gunther faced off against Jey Uso.

The bout was electrifying from start to finish, with fans on the edge of their seats as both competitors delivered an intense and action-packed performance. Despite the fierce competition and significant pain endured by both wrestlers, Gunther ultimately secured a monumental victory over the former Bloodline member, earning his place in the tournament finals.

In a RAW Exclusive interview, Gunther reflected on his victory, acknowledging the match’s intensity. The Ring General admitted it was a close call, but added that he earned the good luck he got.

“It was a close call tonight. I think Jey actually had me, if the ref wouldn’t have collided with me. It’s bad luck for him, it’s a lot of luck for me. But sometimes, you gotta earn luck, and I’m earning luck ever since I stepped foot in this company. Looking forward to the finals, it’s either Randy Orton or Tama Tonga. Randy is obviously one of the biggest names to ever step foot in a WWE ring. Tama Tonga is still very new to this company, but [he] had a decade-long career in Japan. What they have in common, whoever faces me, they never, ever stepped in the ring with somebody like The Ring General. So Saudi Arabia, I’m very excited to come to Saudi Arabia, and all of you will experience when The Ring General graces the ring in the holy land.”

With his victory, Gunther now heads to Saudi Arabia for the King & Queen of the Ring tournament, where he will face the winner of the upcoming Smackdown match between Randy Orton and Tama Tonga.
