There have been numerous veterans from the wrestling industry who never got to showcase their talent in WWE. However, their presence in other promotions turned out to be game changing. One of the biggest names among this is former professional wrestler Glacier. The veteran spent most of his time as a part of the independent circuits and small promotions.

However, the biggest promotion he was a part of was WCW. In a recent interview with Ringside News’ Steve Fall, Glacier addressed how he was hired by the company in the first place. In an interesting story, the veteran revealed that he got in touch with Eric Bischoff and Dusty Rhodes through wrestling legend Diamond Dallas Page.

Soon after getting in touch with them, both stars became mentors for Glacier which eventually led to Bischoff getting him a contract to sign with WCW. However, this all came in when he was a fitness director.

“He has been such a driving force in my life in so many ways. Through Dallas, I got to know Dusty, which was an amazing story because Dusty was one of my two childhood heroes; the other being Evil Knievel. So, I got to know Dallas, and he got to see my work ethic firsthand, which he’s really big on to this day. My number one favorite quote is, ‘At that moment, I realized I never really talked to Dallas that much about my martial arts background because it just wasn’t something that we discussed. We were always talking about wrestling.’ So, he just said, ‘Well, you know Eric didn’t know all that.’ I said, ‘I didn’t know that.’ Anyway, he said, ‘Let me run this by Eric because this might pique his interest.’ And, of course, it did, thankfully. He said, ‘Let’s get through the holidays.'”

“I want to meet. We’ll have a meeting because I’d gotten to know Eric a few times through that, just with Dallas, at his house and stuff. And basically, he said, ‘You know, right after the holidays, let’s schedule a dinner and we’ll sit down and talk.’ So, it was that first week of January, and there was a little Steak House Restaurant right outside their neighborhood. I went and met Eric, just me and him, kind of in the back of the restaurant. Not in any private area, just happen to get seated kind of in the back. And it was a very long conversation. I, and so it’s one of those things where I didn’t go in there, that wasn’t the time to really be humble. You know, and I wasn’t cocky, but I was very confident. And I basically conveyed to Eric, ‘Like, if you bet on me, I promise you I’ll come through for you.’ And he did, and granted, you know, the whole thing turned out exactly like I wanted.”

While Glacier went through a lot of hard work to get his incredible stint in WCW, he could have been a massive star in the industry if things went better.
