Drew McIntyre Never Considered Going Somewhere Else Amidst WWE Contract Negotiations

The Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre has recently renewed his contract with WWE after extended negotiations, prioritizing a better balance between work and family and continue to be a prime fixture for WWE’s television programming.

Reflecting on the possibility of joining another promotion amidst contract negotiations in an interview with PWInsiderElite.com, Drew McIntyre stated that it was never a serious consideration, as WWE was the place where he wanted to wrestle.

The former WWE Champion explained that his family has faced significant challenges over the past year, including the unfortunate passing of his wife’s sister a year ago. This difficult period made Drew McIntyre consider taking a break to support his family.

During this uncertain time, Drew McIntyre considered stepping away temporarily but was grateful for WWE’s unwavering support, which allowed him to take the necessary time off. He expressed gratitude for the company’s flexibility and noted that his family is now in a much better place.

“It was never a consideration. I’m wrestling with WWE. I don’t think in the sense am I gonna go wrestle somewhere else, this is where I want to wrestle. I don’t want to be anywhere else but our family has gone through a lot over the past year. Things in my own family and my wife’s sister unfortunately passed a year ago yesterday. That was very difficult and I felt like I’m gonna have to take some serious time for my family. There was a period where I was like maybe I’m gonna have to take a little break and come back and some uncertainty. Thankfully as a family, we came together and WWE gave me the time I needed whenever I needed it during that period and in the end, as a family we came together. We had a conversation about what was best for us. The company was unbelievable with that and thankfully everybody is in a great place right now.”

Drew McIntyre was recently granted a World Championship rematch from the man who slithered the title away from him at WrestleMania 40, Damien Priest. According to reports, their match is expected to take place at the next WWE PLE, Clash at the Castle, set to be hosted in his hometown of Glasgow, Scotland, and rumored to be the sight of his ultimate triumph moment that he has worked hard for his WWE tenure.
