ECW is hailed as one of the most innovative pro wrestling promotions of all time and its legacy is continued to be felt even now. There’s an A&E biography on ECW and now the release date for the show has been revealed.

According to PWInsider, A&E’s WWE Legends Biography episode on Extreme Championship Wrestling will debut on Sunday, June 23. This episode, subtitled “Birth of Hardcore,” marks the fourth major documentary on the original ECW.

Previous documentaries include WWE’s “Rise and Fall of ECW” from 2004, which surprised WWE with its massive sales and contributed to the creation of the ECW One Night Stand PPV, Jeremy Borash’s “Forever Hardcore” released in June 2005, and John Philapavage and Kevin Kiernan’s “Barbed Wire City,” which premiered on the film festival circuit in 2013 and is now available for streaming on Highspots.

WWE has been focusing on ECW as of late anyway as Paul Heyman came out fully decked in his classic ECW gear for his Hall of Fame induction. Nonetheless, we will have to wait and see how the documentary will turn out, as there’s a lot of hype for it.
