Perry Saturn, a former WWE star, has recently opened up about the challenging times he faced during his wrestling career. Saturn, who has dealt with brain trauma from his brutal matches, shared some interesting insights during an interview on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, including his experiences with Matt Hardy.

Saturn, who had a notable career in ECW and WCW before joining WWF in 2000, faced various roster members, including Eddie Guerrero and The Hardy Boyz. He won both the European Championship and the Hardcore Championship during his time in WWF. Reflecting on his WWF tenure, Saturn revealed tensions with certain talents, particularly Matt Hardy. He recalled a significant issue when Hardy complained to Vince McMahon about Saturn being too rough in their matches.

Saturn explained that he and Dean Malenko felt marginalized as they were excluded from discussions about match setups. Despite their concerns, Hardy and others continued to exclude them, leading to frustration. Saturn emphasized the importance of mutual respect and collaboration in wrestling matches, highlighting that the heel typically leads the match. However, he felt that his requests were disregarded, leading to further tensions between himself, Malenko, and talents like Hardy and Benoit.

“Matt Hardy, me and Dean [Malenko] had a huge problem with him [in] WWF. He went to Vince to complain that I was beating him up every night. They were very tight with Michael Hayes, and they would get together that night and set up the next day’s matches. Dean had more time in the ring than all of us, and both of us told him, ‘Don’t do that. You gotta let us f***** in on what’s going…’, and I would tell him, you got to give Dean the respect to not tell him what we’re doing. They would do it and do it and do it, and then that was it. Finally, Jeff, I bump all over the place for, Matt come in, I cut him off. They could have handled it better, and so could have so. So yeah, we didn’t care. If I work with Steamboat and I’m the heel, Steamboat’s letting me lead the match.

JR’s just now you do it. He’s got more credentials and credit than I could ever have, but that’s how it goes. The heel leads the match. I kept asking them, ‘Please don’t do that.’ Eventually, I got hot and when Dean gets mad, you’ll never know, but that nice guy will eat you alive. So me and [Chris] Benoit had a problem with them too. They would want to do some s*** that didn’t make sense to us, so I think the proper way is to negotiate some sort of settlement. Benoit kept agreeing with them, and finally I grab Chris, I go, ‘What the f*** are you doing?’ He goes, ‘I’m not doing that s***. I’m beating the f*** out of them as soon as we get out there.’ That’s where I learned, okay, yeah, let’s just agree with them then.”

At 57, Perry Saturn retired from in-ring competition in 2013. Throughout his career, Saturn built an impressive résumé, having been part of major wrestling promotions such as WCW, ECW, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and TNA. Fans are now curious about what the future holds for Saturn since he is no longer an active professional wrestler.
