WWE recently executed another round of cuts, releasing several Superstars and leaving many people surprised.

The latest slew of releases a few weeks ago included Ezekiel Balogun, Julian Baldi, Trey Bearhill, Emmamaria Diaz—who garnered attention through the WWE Roku Channel series “WWE: Next Gen”—Valentina Feroz, Drew Gulak, Keyshawn Leflore, Darrell Mason, Vlad Pavlenko, and Kiyah Saint.

Among these releases, Trey Bearhill’s departure was particularly surprising to many individuals within NXT, including talent, production staff, and others associated with the brand. According to Fightful Select, those interviewed dismissed the idea that Bearhill was released due to any perceived similarities with fellow Native American wrestler Eddy Thorpe.

“Trey Bearhill was a release that surprised several that we spoke to in NXT, ranging from talent to production and other roles within the brand. Those that we spoke to dismissed the idea Bearhill was released due to his similarities with fellow Native American Eddy Thorpe.”

Trey Bearhill had notable matches against the likes of Lexis King and Dijak on NXT television. Despite his release, Bearhill’s future in the wrestling world remains open, and fans are eager to see where he might land next.
