While AEW has signed a number of new stars to their roster, not many of them have lived up to their expectations yet. One of the biggest names among them is former WWE Superstar Mercedes Mone. The star made her debut at AEW Big Business and has not been the top attraction of the company till now.
AEW TBS Champion Willow Nightingale will put her title on the line in a match against Tam Nakano at Stardom Flashing Champions. The event is set to be hosted on May 18, days before Nightingale puts her title on the line against Mercedes Mone at AEW Double of Nothing.
Addressing the reason AEW booked Nightingale vs Nakano this week itself, Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed that Tony Khan wanted the match to happen this weekend itself. Though Stardom wanted the match to happen later, AEW wanted it early.
“The match had been talked about and STARDOM didn’t want the match this soon. They wanted to promote it longer. And basically Tony Khan told them, or AEW, I don’t know if it was Tony directly – AEW told them ‘you gotta do it this week, it’s got to be this week.”
While Willow Nightingale has a massive match at Stardom Flashing Lights, it is clear that the match won’t go in the favour of Tam Nakano, thanks to the champion’s match against Mercedes Mone confirmed. Ringside News will keep you updated with this story.
