The Tonga Twins, Taahine and TalaVou, have recently made headlines with their departure announcement from Women of Wrestling on social media. Their exit follows allegations of bullying and causing harm to fellow WOW wrestlers, sparking public discourse. Interestingly, the twins have now accused the promotion of character assassination.
In their critique, the twins were direct, condemning the WOW promotion as “malevolent” and alleging it intruded upon their family life, though they chose not to disclose specific details.
“We will be speaking out soon. But for now, we will leave it here. To all the women who are scared to speak up, we stand for you! You will no longer see us on WOW because we spoke up! You can’t do this to GOOD PEOPLE WHO SACRIFICE THEIR FAMILY!!! So Evil. Mess with us, you mess with our KIDS and family and that’s PERSONAL. Wait on it …”
“Tonga Twins are now free agents!!!!! The marathon continues”
Amidst unexpected developments, current WOW talent Simone Williams made accusations against the Twins, alleging bullying and harm inflicted upon fellow WOW wrestlers. Contradicting their voluntary departure announcement, Williams claimed that the Twins were actually fired from the promotion. On top of that, she criticized their behavior, labeling them as egotistical.
“WOW has many flaws and has had a ton of growing pains with good and bad decisions along the way, but what’s happening right now is NOT RIGHT. The Tonga Twins were LET GO, they did not quit. The Tonga Twins were called out because of their own actions of BULLYING talent, THREATENING talent, and acting off-brand online. All of which is documented and hopefully for their sake doesn’t make it online. Women’s empowerment isn’t about burning a company down and taking everyone’s jobs away from them because you didn’t like being told NO, when just hours before being let go, you’re sending locker room leader motivational speeches in a company-wide group chat. WOW has a long way to go that’s clear, but I’ll be damned if I let the ego of two very well-treated and pushed talent speak on our behalf out of spite.”
This whole ordeal is clearly not over yet as Taahine Tonga took to Twitter and accused WOW leadership of lies and character assassination, adding that they will be defending themselves and will release a public statement soon.
”After the continuous lies and character assassination launched on us at the direction of WOW leadership, we have been forced into defending our names, our character, and our culture.
We are ready to finally release a public statement. 💼 #tongatwins”
The twins also shared their disturbing experience of getting dealt with threats in WOW. Interestingly enough, another talent left WOW after the Tonga Twins fiasco. We will have to wait and see what the future holds for the Tonga Twins, as they have definitely created tons of buzz.
