The world of professional wrestling is no stranger to the toll it takes on its athletes, who often endure injuries while striving to deliver top-notch entertainment for their fans. The latest addition to this unfortunate list is Asuka, who has been dealing with a knee injury longer than one expected.
During last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Dakota Kai revealed that Asuka had sustained an undisclosed injury due to which she had to be pulled from the Queen of The Ring tournament.
Asuka would then confirm she is taking time off WWE television in order to recover from a nagging knee injury. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the knee injury initially occurred during a SmackDown angle about two months ago, where she began limping.
Although she took some time off to address it, she returned to work shortly afterwards. However, the injury worsened during the European tour, prompting her to make the decision to stay until dropping the tag titles at Backlash before taking a more extended break from wrestling.
”It’s the original knee injury in the Smackdown angle where she started limping, two months ago, that she took a little time off but then went right back to working on, and it worsened on the European tour and she felt she needed to stay to drop the tag titles at Backlash and then take time off.”’
Regardless, we wish Asuka a speedy recovery and hope she can get back to in-ring action as soon as possible, as it might be a while until The Empress of Tomorrow returns to WWE television.
