WWE fans were simply sad the company announced a round of talent releases. The wave of releases saw several well known stars let go, including Xyon Quinn, Jinder Mahal, Von Wagner and then, Cameron Grimes. Right after his WWE release, Grimes has now hinted at debuting in AEW.
Cameron Grimes gained popularity in NXT thanks to his high energy and infectious personality, as well as his fantastic feud with LA Knight. However, his transition to the main roster was less successful, as he never received a proper opportunity to shine. Last month, Grimes was released by WWE, leaving him dejected and in tears.
Since his WWE release, Cameron Grimes, also known as Trevor Lee, has remained tight-lipped about his next move in professional wrestling while he serves out his non-compete phase.
On the May 15 edition of AEW Dynamite, The Young Bucks defeated Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal in an eliminator match. After the match, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson fired Daniels for physically confronting them the previous week.
On May 16, Matt Sydal took to social media to react to the firing of Christopher Daniels, expressing his thoughts on the situation.
“Bring back @facdaniels @AEWI’m gonna need my tag partner back on the roster!”
In response to Matt Sydal’s tweet about Christopher Daniels’ firing, Cameron Grimes teased a potential AEW debut by hinting at joining Sydal’s side, sparking speculation among fans about his next move in professional wrestling.
“So what you’re saying is you need a tag partner?”
Cameron Grimes also recalled the time a WWE Superstar told him he stole his gimmick. WWE’s internal reaction to Cameron Grimes’ release was revealed as well. Regardless, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Cameron Grimes, as an AEW debut seems likely.
