Doubt Over MJF Being Able to Take AEW to a New Level

The absence of MJF from AEW television has left wrestling fans wondering about his future. Since his injury at AEW’s Worlds End event, the popular wrestler has been notably missing from AEW programming. Reports indicate that MJF is taking time off to recuperate from his injuries. Now, Eric Bischoff has expressed doubt, stating he believes MJF won’t be able to take AEW to the next level.

AEW hasn’t been a hot product for many fans for a long time now. Despite having many talented professional wrestlers, many fans feel the booking leaves a lot to be desired and that’s reflected in the dwindling ratings.

Amid widespread speculation about the former World Champion’s future with AEW, Eric Bischoff commented on the latest episode of Wise Choices that MJF’s presence would not significantly impact the company’s trajectory and take AEW to a new level. He stated that the organization’s creative process was its biggest obstacle.

“I don’t think MJF is going to take AEW to a whole new level because it’s not a talent-driven issue, it’s a creative-driven issue,” Bischoff said. “I think you could drop The Undertaker into the center of the ring from a helicopter, have him repelled down like Sting did, put him in the center of the ring, and start a program with him in AEW and if Tony Khan is booking it, it’s just not going to matter. It’s not a talent-driven issue, it’s bigger than that.”

MJF’s in-ring return status has also been revealed, while he remains contemplating shoulder surgery. Nevertheless, MJF’s absence has already triggered significant shifts in AEW’s storytelling and programming and it remains to be seen whether MJF’s return will actually help the company in the long run.
