Liv Morgan Reveals How Hooters Job Helped Her Join WWE

Liv Morgan’s return to the squared circle at WWE’s Royal Rumble was supposed to be the beginning of her rise to the top, but that didn’t exactly happen. Even then, she’ll always be grateful for joining WWE, especially because of her Hooters job.

Liv Morgan’s journey to becoming a WWE Superstar almost remained just a dream if not for her time working behind the bar at Hooters. Since joining WWE in 2014, Morgan has risen to become one of the company’s most popular women and a multi-time champion.

While speaking on an episode of the Insight podcast, Liv Morgan recounted how her job at Hooters played a crucial role in turning her wrestling aspirations into reality.

“Everyone at Hooters knew I loved wrestling. I’d be doing my bar shifts, I’d put WWE on the TV… everybody knew it was my thing. Before my time [at Hooters] there was a wrestler who will not be named who used to manage this specific Hooters.”

This unnamed wrestler had a strong connection to his former workplace and would visit whenever WWE was in town, leading to a chance encounter with Liv Morgan.

“Me being the big WWE fan that I was, I saw this wrestler come into Hooters and I knew they were exactly and I introduced myself… I talked to this wrestler for a while and I was like ‘I want to wrestle!’ And they were like ‘Haha, yeah.’ And I just spit all my wrestling knowledge to them and ‘Okay, you really do love wrestling.’

“So they introduced me to this man Joe DeFranco. He’s a world-renowned strength and conditioning coach. He only trains professional athletes and he actually trained Triple H on a weekly basis so I went to his gym and he threw me right in with his NFL guys.”

Despite lacking formal workout experience, Morgan’s determination left a lasting impression on DeFranco, who recommended her to contacts within WWE. By October of that year, Morgan had secured a contract and made her debut as a Tyler Breeze fan during his entrance at NXT TakeOver: Rival.

And now she is looking to dethrone Becky Lynch as the Women’s World Champion at WWE King and Queen of The Ring on May 25th, so we’ll have to see if that will happen in the end.
