Chris Jericho is famous in the wrestling business for his ability to reinvent himself constantly, most recently with his “The Learning Tree” gimmick. He ended up getting hit with a microphone on Dynamite this week and has confirmed he needed to get stitches after that.

At AEW Dynasty, Chris Jericho defeated Hook to become the new FTW Champion, adding another accolade to his storied career. Right after that, he officially started his ‘Learning Tree’ gimmick.

HOOK returned on the May 15 episode of AEW Dynamite and challenged Chris Jericho to a title match. Jericho declined, stating that HOOK still had a lot to learn. This led to a brawl, during which HOOK struck Jericho with a microphone, causing him to bleed. The situation escalated when Big Bill intervened, prompting Katsuyori Shibata to come to HOOK’s aid.

In a digital exclusive, Chris Jericho discussed HOOK’s return, mentioning that he needed stitches due to the microphone attack. He acknowledged HOOK’s potential and expressed satisfaction that the young star was now part of the “Jericho Vortex.”

“Wow. HOOK, I can tell that I touched a nerve when you hit me with that microphone and made me bleed my own blood. You know, HOOK, I can’t even be mad about this because it tells me that you’re learning. It tells me that you’re learning what it takes you to become a champion again because you were the For The World Champion. Maybe someday you will again. It’s gonna be a while, though, because you’re still learning. I’m glad you’re in the Jericho Vortex. I’m glad that you hit me hard enough to bleed.

It really hurts, HOOK. But you know what? It also really makes me proud. This is serious business. It’s what The Learning Tree is here for, HOOK, to make you a better person and a better wrestler, both inside the ring and out. So I’m gonna need a few stitches, and I’m gonna get them gladly because it shows that you’re learning the lessons that The Learning Tree is trying to teach you. So HOOK, I want to thank you. Good luck in your qualifying match this week on Collision. I hope you win [laughs]. Ugh, it hurts.”

We will have to wait and see whether Chris Jericho and HOOK will once again square off against each other at the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view this month, as fans are slowly warming up to ”The Learning Tree” gimmick now.
