John Cena remains a beloved figure among professional wrestling fans and he never fails to go beyond expectations to ensure a show is worth watching, especially if it’s WrestleMania. That’s exactly why he refused to use a stunt driver for one of his most iconic WrestleMania entrances.

During WrestleMania 23, The Cenation Leader delivered a grand entrance, maneuvering a Ford Shelby GT-H inside the Ford Field before his WWE title clash with Shawn Michaels. He would go on to retain his title against The Heartbreak Kid, but his entrance definitely set the tone for the match as well.

While speaking on a recent episode of Something To Wrestle, Bruce Prichard unveiled that John Cena simply refused the idea of having a stunt driver take control of the driver’s seat during his WrestleMania 23 entrance, as he wanted to do it himself.

“They wanted to do a stunt driver that wore the helmet that you could then switch John into and John flat-out refused. John wanted a continuous shot and to go through the glass and stay right on him and get out and see, that was all John. And it all was because John just wanted to do it, you know. From my vantage point I was scared to death because it was Cena in a car, going way too fast, but John’s a great driver. So he loves that and he made it work and that adds something to it. It’s another level of respect.”
