AJ Styles is undoubtedly one of the top talents at WWE with years of experience under his belt, having faced off against some of the industry’s greatest. The veteran wrestler recently revealed that he aims to be the most reviled heel in the history of the sport.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the 46-year-old stated that he aims to become the ultimate villain in professional wrestling. He added that he aspires to be as bad, ugly, and mean as a heel should be, and he wants to achieve more boos than anyone else in WWE, including Mysterio.
“As bad, ugly, and mean as a heel is supposed to be, I’m going to be that guy,” said Styles. “When I step into an arena, I want more boos than Dominik Mysterio. That’s what I’m after. That’s my job, and I want to do it better than anybody.”
Despite his aspirations to be the top heel, Styles acknowledged the crowd’s positive reception at WWE Backlash in Lyon, where fans sang a popular soccer chant in his support during his match with Cody Rhodes. This moment was a testament to his enduring popularity, even as he seeks to transform into a proper heel.
In case you need a refresher, Styles faced a first-round elimination from the King of the Ring tournament by Randy Orton. He continued to compete in main events over the weekend and losing to Cody Rhodes in both Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Macon, Georgia.
