Vince McMahon, formerly a board member of TKO Holdings, is embroiled in a human trafficking lawsuit and will likely go on for a long time. In response to Janel Grant’s motion to strike McMahon’s previous statements, his legal team has filed a new memorandum.
On January 25th, Janel Grant, a former WWE staff member, filed lawsuit against WWE, John Laurinaitis, and Vince McMahon, alleging incidents of sexual assault, emotional abuse, and sex trafficking dating back to March 2019. The lawsuit contains grave accusations against these high-profile individuals, shedding light on significant misconduct within the company and calling into question the safety and integrity of the workplace environment at WWE.
As reported earlier, Vince McMahon has filed a motion to compel arbitration in the Grant v. WWE et al. case, refuting Janel Grant’s allegations of sexual abuse, coercion, and associated claims. In response, Grant’s legal team has reacted to McMahon’s motion.
According to Brandon Thurston, attorneys representing Vince McMahon have submitted a new memorandum in opposition to Janel Grant’s motion aimed at striking down McMahon’s prior statements, which sought to undermine Grant’s credibility.
McMahon’s legal team contends that his previous statements offer “relevant context to the Motion to Compel Arbitration” and asserts that Grant’s motion to strike lacks merit and represents the ”height of hypocrisy.”
To make things even more interesting, WWE joined Vince McMahon in filing a motion to compel arbitration as well. As all involved parties signal a shift towards arbitration, the forthcoming developments may shed light on the trajectory of the case. It remains to be seen whether the dispute will be resolved privately through arbitration or proceed towards a public trial.
