Eddie Kingston has always been known for pushing himself to the limits to entertain fans. However, during his recent match at NJPW Resurgence, he sustained a leg injury. As a result, he is now scheduled to undergo a medical evaluation to assess the extent of the injury.
At NJPW Resurgence, Eddie Kingston defended his NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship against Gabe Kidd in a high-stakes No Rope Last Man Standing match. Despite initially having Kidd seemingly defeated, Kingston opted to handcuff himself to Kidd, igniting a brutal and intense brawl. In a dramatic twist, Kidd countered with a devastating suplex, sending Kingston crashing through a table.
Regrettably, Kingston couldn’t rise before the referee’s ten-count, resulting in him losing the title to Kidd. Following the match, the Young Bucks and Jack Perry emerged and launched a vicious assault on Kingston. It was then reported that The Mad King suffered a legitimate knee injury during the bout.
According to a report by PWInsider, it was noted that Eddie Kingston is set to undergo testing this week in order to determine whether he suffered a very serious injury. If that turns out to be true, he will be replaced by someone else for the Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing,
”Kingston, who is slated for the AEW Double or Nothing Anarchy in the Arena bout, is slated to undergo testing this week to determine whether there is an injury coming out of the match.”
We have also reported on AEW’s internal reaction to Kingston’s injury. It’ll be disheartening if Eddie Kingston had to forfeit his spot at the Anarchy In The Arena match due to injury. All we can do now is hope for the best and keep him in our thoughts, hoping for a swift recovery and clearance for in-ring competition.
