The Undertaker, known for his iconic presence and legendary career in WWE, has accomplished a lot in the business and he is respected for that reason. Interestingly enough, he believed he had it in him for more matches after his bout with AJ Styles.
AJ Styles faced off against The Undertaker in a Boneyard match at WrestleMania 36. The match was a cinematic masterpiece for many fans and it saw The Deadman defeat Styles.
The match was a resounding success and received a lot of critical praise from fans and Superstars alike. However, it ultimately became The Undertaker’s final match in the company.
While speaking in the latest episode of his Patreon exclusive Q&A, The Undertaker admitted that after facing AJ Styles he thought he might have had some more matches left in him. However, he didn’t have any specific opponents in mind at the time because his sole focus was on preparing for a traditional match against Styles. It wasn’t until after the Boneyard Match that he realized his body had reached its limit.
“I wasn’t thinking ahead. The only thing I was thinking was, ‘There may be more gas in the tank for some other opponents,’ but I didn’t have anybody in mind. I was completely focused on AJ and the shape that I thought I was going to have to be in to have the match that I wanted to have with him, which would have been initially in a wrestling ring. So I mean, my whole focus was on that.”
AJ Styles also tried to bring The Undertaker out of retirement to no avail. The Deadman also recently inked new legends deal with WWE, which was expected, so fans can expect him to be part of WWE for a long time.
