In the past few years, AEW has managed to take away numerous stars from WWE and have made a name for themselves with that. While WWE has fired back on them with names like Cody Rhodes, Jade Cargill, and CM Punk signing with WWE, Tony Khan has not left an opportunity to run something like that.
Former wrestling tag team, The Work Horsemen, got split up when J.D. Drake was sidelined with an injury while Anthony Henry was signed by WWE. Back in 2021, Drake was dealing with a jaw injury while Henry was offered a WWE contract which he then accepted to move forward with his career.
In a recent tweet, Henry revealed that his former tag team partner, Drake, was also supposed to be signed by WWE. However, things didn’t go that way in the end. He also wondered what would have happened if the duo was still in WWE.
“Something not many know: @RealJDDrake was supposed to be signed, alongside myself, for WWE. Obviously, that didn’t happen. I often wonder what would have happened had that happened. I think we still would have ended up where we are, but the journey would have been different.”
While Henry is signed with WWE, Drake was released from his AEW contract recently. However, Tony Khan has stated he would love to bring the star back once he heals completely. Ringside News will keep you posted with the latest updates about the wrestling world.
