Skye Blue faced a wave of sexist and vulgar remarks during the latest ROH taping and she ended up getting a ton of support as a result. In light of this, Blue has finally broken her silence on the matter.
During the recent ROH tapings, an incident involving Skye Blue and an unruly fan disrupted the event. According to a fan in attendance, a man in the front row repeatedly made vulgar comments about Skye Blue’s body, called her inappropriate names, and behaved aggressively throughout her match. Despite repeated requests from those nearby to stop, the man only grew louder and more hostile.
Referee Aubrey Edwards took action by calling for security to remove the disruptive fan. Both AEW and arena security responded, but the situation escalated when the man resisted removal, leading to additional security involvement. Disturbingly, the man had a child with him during the incident, heightening the sense of concern among those in attendance.
Skye Blue left the ring quickly, visibly upset by the behavior. Thankfully, Blue got a ton of support from fans and pro wrestlers alike, including even Chelsea Green.
Skye Blue took to Twitter and broke her silence on the matter, as she expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support after the harrowing incident during the ROH taping.
”I’m beyond overwhelmed with all the love and support. Thank you everyone you have no idea how much it’s appreciated 💙
Let’s make sure the future generations of women wrestlers don’t have to deal with this s***.”
It’s disheartening that such behavior persists in 2024, particularly at live events where everyone should feel safe and respected. Many fans are frustrated by the fact that some people still blame women for the vile acts of others, ignoring the real issue of disrespect and sexism. It’s great that Skye Blue got so much support but fans feel such issues should be directly addressed so that they never happen again.
