There are tons of tag teams in AEW, many of which have been with the company since the very beginning. This includes Private Party but it appears they might be potentially splitting up soon.
After his match with Samoa Joe on the May 1 episode of AEW Dynamite, Isiah Kassidy from Private Party discussed what might be next for the tag team in light of their recent struggles.
AEW’s official account shared backstage footage where Kassidy addressed what might be next for the tag team. Reflecting on their journey since joining AEW, Kassidy recalled how he felt about their prospects earlier in the year.
“When we came back to AEW in January, I felt like Private Party was on its way to becoming AEW Tag Team Champions.
“Fast forward to now, I can’t say that confidently and I think that’s what hurts the most.
“And, if I’m being, you know what else hurts? The fact that we’ve been here since day one, literally, the beginning.
“We saw this company when it first started, we was here and we have nothing to show for it.
“It just feels like we’re a big disappointment and when the math isn’t mathing, there has to be a problem with the equation.
“And, it’s a tough pill to swallow and the problem is us.
“We can’t be what we want (by) remaining what we are.”
Regarding the next steps for Private Party, Kassidy acknowledged the need for change, as he seemingly teased breaking up the tag team by pursuing singles careers.
“Change. Change. And, the first step towards change is awareness and Quen and I are aware that what we’ve been doing isn’t working.
“The second step towards change is acceptance and we’ve accepted the fact that the party might be over.”
Kassidy and Marq Quen joined AEW in April 2019 and have previously challenged for the AEW World Tag Team Championships, but they have yet to secure a title win. Should they actually break up, it would be a shame they never even won a title to solidify their status as a tag team.
