Christian Cage has proven over the past year why he’s one of the best heels in pro wrestling, thanks to his outstanding work in AEW. Despite his success in WWE, Copeland believes Cage was limited in that environment before joining AEW, suggesting that Cage’s move to AEW allowed him to reach new heights as a performer.
Throughout his career in WWE, Christian Cage was always seen as the weaker half of his team with Adam Copeland. Copeland ultimately became one of the most accomplished WWE Superstars in the history of the company. While Christian was successful, he never reached the heights Copeland did, and this includes the fact that Copeland is a WWE Hall of Famer while Christian Cage is not.
Copeland recently discussed Christian Cage’s AEW run on the podcast Insight with Chris Van Vliet, where he was asked if this was the best work Cage has ever done. Copeland agreed, stating that Cage’s performance in AEW has been remarkable, largely because he felt limited in his previous roles.
“I think so. Only because I feel like he was limited beforehand.”
“Throughout the years you keep hitting a glass ceiling, and some will break through but I don’t think it was ever meant for him to break through.”
Christian Cage also made it clear he couldn’t care less about the WWE Hall of Fame. We’ll have to wait and see whether Cage and Copeland will eventually feud again in the future.
