WWE’s King and Queen of the Ring tournaments officially began on RAW last night, with some of the most exceptional bouts taking place with the likes of Ilja Dragunov emerging victorious over Ricochet and Zoey Stark putting down The Pitbull Ivy Nile on the women’s side.
Moreover, the main event saw the third banger between GUNTHER and Sheamus where The Celtic Warrior submitted to The Ring General, and the action for both tournaments will continue at an upcoming WWE Live Event with exciting matchups on the horizon.
WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio will face off against Kofi Kingston, while Shayna Baszler takes on LWO member Zelina Vega. Interestingly, these matches were shifted from RAW to the live event scheduled for this weekend.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, there are plans to showcase highlights from these bouts on next week’s edition of RAW, with the possibility of additional coverage on social media platforms. However, it’s worth noting that these plans are subject to change.
“WWE has kicked off their King and Queen of the Ring tournaments, and will extend to live events. Rey Mysterio vs. Kofi Kingston and Shayna Baszler vs. Zelina Vega were moved from WWE Raw to this weekend’s live events. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp followed up on a plan to air them, and we’re told that as of now the plan is to air highlights on next week’s WWE Raw and possibly social media. That could be adjusted or changed. Fightful will also post fan cam footage and results throughout the weekend.”
The King and Queen of the Ring tournaments are set to culminate at the name-sake WWE PLE, taking place on May 26 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where the fans will see the coronation of a new King and Queen in the global juggernaut.
