AEW’s Forbidden Door 3 event is expected to be an exceptional show, bringing together talent from different promotions for unique matchups. In fact, more companies are expected to be a part of the show.
According to Fightful Select, this year’s Forbidden Door event will feature more collaborations. In an interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Rocky Romero discussed the origins of Forbidden Door and its future direction. He confirmed that the event will always be a co-branded show between NJPW and AEW but hinted at the possibility of involving other promotions.
Romero noted that NJPW and AEW usually share many of the costs associated with Forbidden Door. He also shared some exciting news: STARDOM, the Japanese women’s wrestling promotion, will “definitely” be a part of this year’s Forbidden Door, and CMLL is “very likely” to join as well. He remarked that beyond this, the possibilities for further collaborations are vast, suggesting a broader scope for future events.
Both NJPW and AEW have partnerships with CMLL, indicating a growing network of alliances in the wrestling world. The inclusion of STARDOM and potentially CMLL makes it very evident this year’s show will be the most important yet.
We have already reported that Forbidden Door 3 will be taking place on June 30th at UBS Arena in Long Island, New York. We will have to wait and see how the event will turn out in the end.
