Owen Hart was regarded as one of the most gifted in-ring competitors to ever grace a WWE ring. Unfortunately, his life was snuffed out when he tragically lost his life at Over The Edge in 1999 as he fell to his death. On the occasion of his birthday, his brother Bret Hart penned an emotional message to remember him.
Owen Hart had doubts about the deadly Blue Blazer stunt that ultimately took his life as well. His passing led to a lot of controversy that carries on even today. Owen Hart’s wife Martha sued WWE for wrongful death, and Vince McMahon sued her back.
WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart shared a heartfelt message on his late brother Owen Hart’s birthday, reflecting on a recent dream where he saw Owen Hart. In the Instagram post, he also uploaded a few old photos of his brother.
“I had a wonderful dream two days ago; Owen came to me briefly, and his big smile instantly made me smile too. He was ribbing me, and I was surprised that he almost got me again. I woke up smiling. I think of you in my happy thoughts, often seeing you in the highest and farthest corner of a room. Your warm blue eyes and expressions of amusement and reflection. Sometimes, I hear your voice behind my right ear or while driving down the highway. Hey Oje’, just so you know, I know it’s you.”
Even Jake Roberts believes Vince McMahon should have halted the show following Owen Hart’s tragic demise. Nevertheless, Owen Hart’s death will forever be one of WWE’s black marks, and that’s never changing.
