Paul Wight used to be known as Big Show in WWE and was always a highlight of Vince McMahon’s television product, for one reason or the other. He basically became a divisive figure in WWE as well and it appears he was mad at Rampage Jackson for an odd reason.
In June 2010, “The A-Team,” a film based on the 1980s television series, was released in theaters across the U.S.A., starring Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley, and former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson. To promote the film, Cooper, Copley, and Jackson appeared on an episode of WWE’s Monday Night Raw just before the movie’s release.
During the Raw segment, Rampage Jackson and Sharlto Copley shared the ring with WWE icons like Mike Rotunda, Dusty Rhodes, Virgil, and ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund. At one point, Rampage gave Virgil a chokeslam, which upset Big Show.
While speaking during his JAXXON PODCAST, Rampage Jackson recalled that he initially wanted to use the powerbomb, which was his trademark move, but wasn’t allowed. He recounted Big Show’s reaction’s when he used the chokeslam, as Show was clearly upset.
”When I promoted A-Team, we did something at WWE, me and (Howling Mad) Murdock. Shout out to the actor that played Murdock (Sharlto Copley). They had us in the ring and The Big Show was there and he got mad because I did his chokeslam. He got mad and he was like, ‘Why’d you have to use my move?’ I’m like, ‘Nobody would let me powerbomb him.’ They wouldn’t let me do my move because I’m known for the powerbomb. I didn’t understand that.”
Even Jim Ross believes WWE overexposed The Big Show far too much. Regardless, we will have to wait and see what’s next in store for Paul Wight in AEW, as it’s been a while since he’s been on AEW television anyway.
